Brazil's first Cannabis sativa L. genetic bank was inaugurated on August 18, 2026, in partnership with the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). Nearly one hectare in the Agronomy Valley, with an initial collection of 68 varieties and a target of 500 — the basis for Cannabis tropicalization and for cultivars adapted to the Brazilian territory.

Cannabreed is founded
A technology-driven company is born in Viçosa (MG), devoted to Cannabis sativa L. genetics and breeding.
- 2023
Agreement with UFV
The partnership with the Federal University of Viçosa structures the germplasm bank project.
- 2024
BAGC announced
The pioneering project is presented publicly, with a forecasted investment of around R$ 1.5 million.
- 2026
BAGC inaugurated
Brazil's first Cannabis genetic bank at a public university starts operating, with 68 varieties.
